Women's Curling
I'm watching the US women vs. Sweden on CNBC, and the US team is playing much better than in their earlier matches. Skip Cassie Johnson just made two great shots to steal a point in the fifth end and give the US a 2-1 lead. (I'm sure the match is over by now, but I'm watching it as if it were live.)
Update: The US played a good match, but the last stone picked up something on the ice, and the team lost in an extra-end. It's going to be tough for them at 1-4 to make the medal round at this point.

Everyone here, make sure you don't give someone the results of an Olympic event until the day after it has taken place. Some people (like me) enjoy turning on NBC at night and watching the events, viewing them as if they were live. I say this because the other day I was watching the Men's Downhill (my favorite event), and my friend tole me that "a Frenchman won" when we were talking over the phone. Well, Antoine Deneriaz was the only Frenchman in the race, and his amazing run seemed less spectacular to me as I already knew the result. Take heed...
the american curlers are pretty good looking
the sweedes, surprisingly, are not :(
I have a recurring dream featuring the Johnson sisters and Fred Smoot.
Is this curling thing some kind of inside joke? I'm assuming that no American admits to actually watching curling and there is some sort of a joke where we're talking about sweeping two ends. I just don't get it though. Can someone fill me in?
No joke. I enjoy watching the game during the Olympics. It's math and physics and subtlety and luck. Just like baseball.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. Curling is nothing like baseball. I try to respect sports I do not enjoy, but this is where I draw the line. There might be math and physics involved, but there is math and physics involved in soap box car racing - and I wouldn't tune in to watch people compete in that on an international level - it's not a sport. All in all, the olympics (winter and summer) has gotten pretty ridiculous. They're getting rid of baseball, but they're keeping every other weird hobby/non-sport in the world. And the openning ceremony, that was just plane hard to watch. At least it's almost March.
Well, Dave Pinto seems to like it, and it's his blog.
Hey - I love this sport! Does anyone know where one could actually learn how to play in NYC somewhere? I watched 4 years ago and fell in love and I am watching now, and I really want to learn!
