New Tee?

The New York Daily News posts an article about Jorge Posada wishing to catch Randy Johnson, but the picture next to the article caught my attention. Posada is hitting off a batting tee that suspends the ball with jets of air. Way cool.

Update: The New York Times has a picture from a different angle.

Old Tee. They had those when I was in high school ten years ago.

This is the second coolest batting machine, only to the machine that Beltran has.

What's Beltran's tee?

I think Beltran uses the same thing that the US softball team does. It shoots out out color and number coded tennis balls. The trick is to train your eye to recognize the numbers and colors on the ball. Once the batter gets used to it, the coach tells them what color and number to look for and they can only swing at that particular ball. Judging from the last olympics, it worked rather well for the women.

Cool Jen, thanks for the explanation.

That does sound like a pretty effective way to work on your selectivity.
