My Favorite Things
John Smoltz discusses his favorite pitch (emphasis added):
"My favorite pitch is the one that's in the dirt that they can't hit but they swing at; I still can't figure out why they do it but I'm not going to try," Smoltz said.
I've always wondered that myself.

Are you kidding me? Are you telling me that both yourself and John Schmoltz don't know what effect a breaking pitch has on the hitter? Are you seriously saying you didn't know that breaking pitches sometimes look like they are going to finish in the strike zone, but instead, break out of it, and that hitters who make the commitment to swing at an aparent strike, are unable to stop the swing when it becomes obvious that the pitch will be a ball?
