Vazquez Rumors
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Diamondbacks and White Sox are working on a deal for Javier Vazquez. Arizona wants Jon Garland and the White Sox to pick up all of Javier's salary. That would allow the Diamondbacks to keep the money the Yankees are sending Arizona to offset Vazquez's contract.

If the White Sox are interested in this trade, the thought on Garland must be that last season was a statistical fluke for Garland, and that he's going to revert back to his norm next year. His trade value will never be higher than it is right now, in any case, although I would think twice about paying all his salary, that would be a coup for Arizona, and for rookie GM Josh Byrnes.
If you don't ask, you don't get.
even if garland doesn't perform up to this year's level, he's a lot to give up for chicago. they better get some good prospects or something, especially for a pitcher who has already proven he cant be successful in the AL.
2006 will likely be Garland's last year with the Sox. If he repeats what he did in 2005 the Sox will not be able to afford him as a free agent. It could be better to trade him now rather than decide in July when it becomes a white flag trade or no trade because they're in a position to make the playoffs.
The Sox have depth at starting although several of them are question marks including Garland.
