Noah and Seo

Noah Lowry looks close to a lock for pitcher of the month in August. However, if Jae Seo pitches a complete game shutout tomorrow, they'll be tied in innings pitched and earned runs allowed, and wins. Noah should have him in strikeouts, Seo may have fewer walks. Two great performances by two fine young pitchers.

Jason Schmidt may be the Opening Day starter and staff ace by name, but Lowry is looking to be the staff ace by performance.

He's now getting strikeouts with his curve, too, instead of relying on mostly the changeup. The curve isn't that good, although he snaps a really good one off from time to time. But it has enough break to throw the hitter's off-balance when they're locked in on fastball or changeup, and that's the point, I think.
