Road Gates

JustOneMinute demonstrates why the Yankees are the best draw on the Road, not the Red Sox.

Is the Times' preoccupation with the Red Sox something that has been going on for years or is it starting this year now that the Sox are WS champions? I live outside of Boston and get both the Times and the Globe. I've been really surprised at the amount of Sports' front page coverage the Sox get. It's been so ridiculous that once I just assumed it was a Sports page formatted regionally for delivery in Metro Boston. My brother in NJ assured me otherwise. This must drive Yankees fans crazy.

Well, the NYTimes Company is part owner of the Red Sox, right? It seems like this has been going on for the past year or so.

Yes, that's true. It surprises me, nonetheless. I suppose it's just one more feature of this rivalry that makes it so unique.

It has been going on since they bought their minority stake in the Sox. Prior to the '03 ALCS the Times even went so far as to endorse a Sox victory over the Yanks.

Can let this go completely unchallenged.

So the Sox were not part of the reason for those six sell outs? Presumably the Yanks sold out every other game round about those Sox series....

And the Sox never sell out Fenway when the Yankees aren't in town...

Which is why you should do it based on the % of capacity of the other stadiums, not by pure attendance.

The article's opening salvo is faulty to start with--they're
using 5 fewer games in the average. Thank God I stopped buying the NY Times several years ago, due to
their extreme bias in creating and reporting "news,"
starting on page 1.
