Database Improvements

When I'm using the comparison functions of the Day by Day Database, I've wanted to click on a player's name and see his log for that set of parameters. It's now coded and tested. You can try it here.

That's some good work.

Dave, great work. I use the database all the time and recommend it to friends.

When a list of players is outputted, would it be possible to place ranking numbers next to their names? It might be useful to know that for X and Y and Z that Pujols is number 1 and looking down be able to see quickly that Edmonds is 34th, rather than counting down.

Ryan,

Yes, it's possible. One of the difficulties with that is you need to make two passes through the data in order to make the labels 2-Tied instead of just 2. But I'll put that on the list of improvements.

The header lines appear after every 20 lines, so that should help you count.

Great job as always. One thing I'd love to see is the ability to sort the batter comparisons by position, but given that players commonly play multiple positions, I can see why that would be a very complex thing to add to the database.

Now if only we can get those last few boxscores for Retrosheet so the data can go further back in time.
