Carrying a Spare

Brendan Donnelly was just caught with a baseball in his back pocket. No penalty, the umps just made him get rid of it after the Red Sox bench noticed the bulge in Brendan's bottom. You have to wonder why it was there, however. I hope someone asks him about it after the game.

Is that a baseball in your back pocket or... oh, it is.

I heard this one the radio. No one thought it was suspicious, which I thought a little strange. It probably wasn't placed there with ill-intent, but wouldn't it cross someone's mind that he could have it there when he needs something interesting?

Yeah, I saw this on TV; it was kinda weird. The commentators joked that he was trying to "reinvent the hidden ball trick." But when the umpire called him on it, he just reached in and tossed it to the catcher (or maybe it was the home plate umpire.) I guess it was just in there absentmindedly, but you never know.

And three cheers for Garret Anderson, now the Angels' all-time RBI leader.
