Last Place Yankees
The Devil Rays take three of four from New York and move into a tie for fourth in the AL East. The Yankees shakeup didn't work; losing three in a row to Tampa won't sit well with management. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Love the site! I'm hoping your radio show is available in podcast form...I'm going to check it out now.
By the way, I'm not a total Yankee hater, but this is hard not to enjoy...hehe.
Can't wait to see what statement Steinbrenner releases tomorrow :)
And the national media seems surprised by this development. "Well, surely no one could have foreseen that the Yankees would play like this..." Etc, etc, etc.
At the start of the year, the Yankees were 1-9 favorites to win the AL East. Nine dollars plunked down wherever would get 10.
The Orioles were 50-1 shots. Boston something like 5-2.
It's early, but thanks for the hype, ESPN!
I'm surprised Red Sox players aren't talking trash. I mean, not that they're dominating now or anything, but still...
Whats happening to the Yankees couldn't have been any better this spring. With a depleated minor league system, let's see how 'ol George pulls out of this disaster if he can. Go STL!!!
What's funny is that ESPN is turning this into a "changing of the guard" story, even though the Sox have exactly what the Yankees lack: starting pitching depth, good backup players and a good minor league system.
Well, perhaps 'good' is stretching it in your description of the Sox's minor league system. I think decent might be better, but whatever the case, we certainly have more talent in the high minors than the Yanks. Now, do the Sox trade those away? I hope not.
I have to say I was impressed with the way the Devil Rays played. They were aggressive (without being stupid) and executed hit & runs real well.
Yea, "good" might be stretching it a bit, but I don't think it's too far from the mark. It's come a long way since Duquette and there's a good batch of players that appear poised to contribute at the major league level by '06 (Ramirez, Papelbon, Pedroia, Alvarez, Shoppach, West, Meredith). Baseballanalysts.com even included 6 Sox prospects in their latest top 75...
Don't forget Annibel Sanchez, he's got a 44/1 K/BB ratio in 27 innings of High-A ball this year!
I love it, The Yanks in last place, just goes to show you, money can't buy you ____________!!!!!!!
Oh, ye of little faith!!!!! The Yanks clinched the AL East today!!!!!
