Just One
Aaron Heilman tosses a complete game one-hitter for the Mets. He walked three and hit a batter, but got two double plays to only face three over the minimum. The Mets still don't have a no-hitter; Luis Castillo had the only hit, a single in the fourth. Heilman has had an unremarkable career. Now he's part of Mets history. The Mets win 4-0.
If Cairo was able to barehand that ball, it could have been the Mets' first no-no.
Heilman benefitted from a big strike zone, but his pitching was excellent. Great movement/location!
Will be interesting to see how Heilman's season goes after this great game. If he follows this up with more quality starts it will make the Mets an even better pitching staff. If only Glavine could win a game. His chances for 300 wins don't look too good right now.
