Did you know there was a better player than Alex Rodriguez on Alex's high school team? Dr. Manhattan has the story.

It's interesting that the article has the tone that Butler's failure is some kind of mystery, when really it seems it's just unlucky injuries.

While reading the story about Steve Butler it reminded me of Ron Necciai who struck out all 27 batters in a minor league game but when in majors with Pirates in 54 innings of pitching he gave up 63 hits, walked 32 and struck out 31 then never recovered from arm injury. And then there was Karl Spooner of Dodgers who struck out 15 and 12 in his first two major league games with shutout wins then injures his arm in spring training the next year and never pitched in majors again after giving up 5 runs in the first inning against Yankees in 1955 World Series. At least he got to be on a World Series champion when the Dodgers won the World Series that year.
