Bonds Writes!
I was reading this article about the animosity A.J. Pierzynski and Dustin Hermanson feel toward the Giants. Both are on the White Sox now. Pierzynski's comes from pitchers complaining about his work ethic last year. Hermanson's is a result of incentives not met.
However, what really caught my eye was this line in the notes:
Bonds did say on his Web site that he'll be on the field Opening Day.
I didn't know Bonds had a website. A little Google search, and here it is. From the March 7th entry:
I'll be there. I'll be on the field and in the lineup on Opening Day. I think that's fair to say. Based on the way my right knee is feeling right now, I'll be ready.
I don't think I've ever missed an Opening Day. I'd take Opening Day and go back on the disabled list or something. But I don't want to miss Opening Day. It's important because I've been out there year after year after year. This will be my 20th, and that means a lot to me. Not to be there Opening Day, not to be there through the whole parade thing, with all the guys, with the whole adrenaline thing going, just to sit there and watch it would really break me down.
Looking at the archives, updates were frequent during the season. Just a suggestion to MLBAM; put in permalinks and an RSS feed. You'll get a lot more traffic to the site.
Baseball Musings is holding a pledge drive during March. Click here for details.
