WOW!!
The Perfect Game is still my favorite stat and baseball occurrence, and what a great opportunity it was to listen to the MP3. Thanks Dave for sharing this with your readers.

I found it interesting that many of the statements during the broadcast were in the book "Perfect" by James Buckley Jr, which details at the time of printing all 16 Perfect Games in history (up through David Cone's perfecto).

Very worthwhile to listen to and SAVE....

The remarkable thing about listening to the broadcast was how ordinary it was, by Vin's standards. He was describing a remarkable event, of course, but other than a few frills it could have been Vin on any night in the last five decades, spinning a piece of verbal baseball literature without hesitation or difficulty. We will never see his like again when he passes from the scene, sad to say.
