I Must Have ESP(n)
Looks like this prediction:
I would not be surprised to see Schilling go into politics once his baseball career is over.
Came true faster than I thought.
Re: Curt Schilling & Politics
Why are we surprise that Curt Schilling is a Republican? Charles Barkley all during his time in Philly was an outspoken Republican, and bragged he would run for Governor of Alabama when he was done with his basketball career. When asked why, he was blunt about it;
"I make a lot of money--the Republicans cut my taxes, the Democrates want to raise my taxes. I'm for the guys who want to cut my taxes." (Paraphrase).
Schilling has always said if he wasn't a baseball player he would have wanted to be a soldier. He believed in duty and order and is fundamentally a conservative person. He reams out people in the dugout who don't tow the line or don't run out ground balls or who he thinks aren't earning their paycheck, because he believes it's a privilege to play baseball. He's very likely to be anti-union. He appeared on WIP talk radio nearly every day, calling in, to talk about nearly anything, during his years with the Phillies, and we got a good idea what this guy was about--and he is intelligent and articulate, and has a strong opinion about nearly everything.
One would speculate that he would also have strong views on politics as well. He also likes to talk and have his views known. Schilling is one guy unafraid to use his fame as a soapbox for his views. He did it for years in Philly.

I predict a massive landslide for Bush in the coveted Sons of Sam Horn demo...
On Boston Dirt Dogs, he posted a statement apologizing for his statement and saying that he won't be appearing with Bush.
Given Bunning's recent performances in Kentucky, discretion might be the better part of valor. (See http://www.dailykos.com for full coverage of the Hall-of-Famer's recent behavior).
Although I was "brought up" Republican, I've since found the GOP does not understand the needs of ALL Americans, but only those of the well-to-do and the "Better-than-well-to-do." In one of his primary-campaign speeches to his wealthy supporters, President Bush joked, "We are the 'Haves' - and the Have Mores." Pause for laughter. "You are my base." He may have been kidding around, but as the saying goes, Many a truth is spoken in jest.
Of course, Curt Schilling has a right to be a Republican and support George W. Bush, but he seems to be a really nice guy, and I feel diappointed that he can support a politician who can joke about the great disparity between the Haves and the Have-Nots. But then, Curt is now a "Have" himself.
Saludos para todos jugadores de los 'Boston Red Sox".
Manny, Derek Jeter was playing golf. He was taking pictures for his new "Coach Potato" line.
