Bottom of the 9th

The Red Sox don't score in the top of the 9th. Isringhausen does his job. Can the Cardinals batters do theirs?

Update: Pujols is up, Foulke is on. He'll have to get the 3-4-5 hitters of the Cardinals.

Update: Pujols singles through Foulke legs. Rolen up next.

Update: Rolen flies out deep to right. He remains hitless in the series. It's Edmonds' turn.

Update: Edmonds swings and misses at an 0-2 pitch. Two out. This is where the Mets came back in 1986.

Update: Renteria grounds out to Foulke! The Red Sox win the World Series!

Interesting symmetry that Renteria ends one Series ('97) with a game-winning hit, and ends another with a game-ending out ('04)...

Re: Red Sox Winning

Bottom of the Ninth, last out, Game 4, WS v. Cards

To paraphrase Neil Armstrong:

One small out for the Red Sox, one Giant Out for Red Sox Nation.

The Eagle has landed.

Yee-hah.

by the way, ben affleck & Jennifer Garner looked cute on their date at Game 1 at Fenway. Especially Jennifer Garner, who continues to be a most excellent babe, to paraphase Bill & Ted.

I watched my first Bosox game in 1967 with my Albanian uncle in Worcester MA, and his favorite player was Rico Petrocelli.

Since, then, other than the Phils, the Bosox have always been my second favorite team and my favorite AL team (I kind of like the As too, they're originally from Philly, but they had silly uniforms for a long time).

It's nice to see them win.

in my lifetime!
