Dropped Like a Stone?

According to Paul Rinks, Steve Stone may be on his way out as a Cubs broadcaster. It seems he's been a bit critical of the way the Cubs have been managed this year.

I never had WGN on my system until this year. Until recently I didn't catch that many Cubs games. But I think Stone is one of the better commentators in the game. He brings his experience to the situation without being a "we did it better in my day" kind of guy. He knows stats, and unlike many, has a sense of what's significant and what's not. If the Cubs do cut him loose, I would guess he'll be snapped up quickly and improve whatever broadcast he joins.

I would be willing to bet that over 70% of Cub Nation would rather have Stone as an announcer next year than Baker as a coach. Heck, I bet a good deal of fans would rather have Stone as the coach next year.
