Beane Counters

It's been a good year for the Beane Count. The top 4 AL teams in the category would all make the playoffs if the season ended today. In the NL, three of the four playoff leaders are in the top four of the count.

And surprise, surprise, it's a crappy year for productive outs. The top three teams for hitting productive outs: Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Colorado. For pitching: Montreal, Cleveland, Seattle.

Montreal--drawing scores of fans a game, a blight on the game, and recruiting a Triple-A team nightly. But when they get out--and get other teams out--they're doing it productively!
