52 is much too young...I was inspired by your writing. It made me think deeper. Your writing was concise and clear and inspirational. I wish I had the chance to thank you for sharing your insight with me through your writing.

See you on the next level,
Hotep

Ralph, your voice will be sorely missed. I'll never forget the sympatico and affirmation I felt as a Black high schooler in Oakland, picking up the Trib and reading your columns. Finally, I found a reflection, of my perspective. I got you and your got me. Thank You.

Ralph, you defined "class" in a profession often trying to find its way. You inspired me with your wonderful and magical ability to turn a phrase, weave words into a fashionable, comforting and challenging tapestry, and you so often touched the depths of my soul with your words.

Thanks, you'll be missed, and I'm looking for your heavenly critique from the big press room in the sky.

A long time fan from your Oakland Tribune days.

I too am disappointed to here about Ralph W. He certainly was different....somewhat unbelievable. He had a tact that's rare to say what he wanted & yet remain heard amongst the majority.....it's a sign that "life is like a vapor"...we must be ready to meet the Lord....I hope he was....don't know...

I liked Ralph wiley a great deal. He was a man who had a very different way of bringing his thoughts together and conveying them on paper. I was suprised to hear of his passing. I pray that he knew the Lord for we all have to be ready at any time. At 52 he was still a young man. Ralph you will be missed and I pray that your family be strong. A great voice has been silenced but if you know the Lord, weeping may endure for the night, but Joy cometh in the morning....Be blessed

Today I learned that my long time friend is gone. It stunned me, initially, to hear that he died, then I remembered many of the times we shared beginning at Knoxville College in 1973. Because of the nature of our relationship, he will continue to hold a place in my heart.

Ralph was not only a great writer. He was also a tremendous source of pride and inspiration to all of us from his native "Orange Mound" neighborhood in Memphis, TN. We'll always love Ralph. Peace be upon our brother's soul.

Mr. Wiley, was very inspirational and refreshing.
But he shall not return to us but we will go the way he has traveled the issue is; are you prepared for your departure? Only in Jesus Christ will we enjoy life everlasting.
