No Shows
Wow. Not even Barry Bonds could bring the fans out in Tampa Bay. Only 13,275 showed high enough interest to see if Bonds would bear them a HR. He didn't get a round tripper, but he did get on base four times and drive in 2 as San Francisco won 7-3. The Devil Rays average crowd this year is about 17,600.

Well, their NHL team was winning the Stanley Cup. Maybe they were all there?
It's all about the dome, nobody wants to sit in a dome in Tampa Bay sunshine just like nobody wants to sit in the rain in Miami. Both teams need retractable domes if they ever intend to bring fans. Another thing is alot of the people who inhabit the area have moved there from other areas or watched spring training games somewhere and already have a team. Give it ten years when there is a solid generation of Floridians in those two markets who will grow up bleeding aqua and sea green.
