No More Nomar

At least for a while. It's looking more and more like the Red Sox should have spent the money on A-Rod. At least Nomar gets to spend more time with his bride!

Mark Bellhorn will take over at 2nd base as Pokey Reese moves to SS. Bellhorn is the kind of player I'd expect the Red Sox to pick up as a role player. He doesn't hit much, but he's pretty good at getting on base. He's the kind of player you use to pinch hit leading off an inning when you're down a run or two. He's likely a lot more valuable offensively than Pokey Reese. It will be interesting to see how he plays for three weeks. If Bellhorn has a good offensive start a Pokey a poor one, there might be pressure to keep Bellhorn at 2nd base when Nomar returns to the lineup.

Now I wish THIS story was an April Fools Joke. Thank goodness for Bellhorn (I think).

Even if Bellhorn plays well in those 3 weeks, I wouldn't expect a starting change between Bellhorn and Pokey. Pokey is too valuable for the club because of his defense. He'll save a heck of a lot more runs than Bellhorn.

Pokey Reese "valuable" ? He's a joke. An automatic out is not worth the great play he'll make every 3 days. He gives you 12 automatic outs at bat and gains one in the field. The guy is a joke. He should have played in the 60s when you could play middle infield and be a AA hitter. (Expletive Deleted) Reese, play Bellhorn

Editor's note, obsenity removed.

sike. just kidding. Pokey is awesome defensively and a great addition to any team. He has great speed and of course, that gold glove defense. I also hear he is great in the clubhouse. I only said that cuz I was in a wittle cranky wanky moody poo.

sorry...I only said that because I played on Pokeys high school team...Once I saw his weenie at it was sooo much bigger than mine and I was jealous....not to mention he got all the ladies, while I had to turn to masturbation, and a sore forearm.

ok dude we get the point...Pokey is a damn good and useful ballplayer...lets just leave it at that

I believe that Bellhorn proved to the more valuable of the two. He really did come out big for the sox during the post season, hitting three homeruns and earning a slugging % of .860, .870, .830, and .844 during the 2004 World Series. He also ended the season tied in third for the most walks with 88 in the AL. He had about 82 RBIs and scored 93 runs. Pokey proved to be terrific defensively with his golden glove. But Bellhorn came out on top.

As for the dude dissing Pokey: watch it! You were probably more jealous that Pokey will be a better ballplayer than you ever will be over the size of his supposedly larger "weenie." Don't diss the dude unless you are in the position to do so, which you are not because you are obviously not making the $ he is making and playing in the majors!
