Digit Damage
Shallow Center links to a report about Jim Thome breaking the middle finger of his right hand. It looks like Thome will get March off at least. The real question, however, is what is he going to do if someone cuts him off in traffic? :-)

Pick up their car and throw it off the road, obviously. Homeboy is LARGE.
On a more serious note, I wonder how this will impact Thome's season? Not only is he one of the more streakiest hitters I've ever seen, he has notorious SLOW starts.
Actually, that finger will likely be splinted straight. Therefore, he will continuously be "gesturing" as you suggest.
