Slow on the Uptake

Doesn't look like the Montreal Expos will be moving to Portland, Oregon:


"I think everybody realizes that letting things drift along too much longer is a decision -- whether it's made consciously or not -- not to get the Expos," said Steve Kanter, president of the Portland Baseball Group.

I'm originally from Portland, and while I'd love to see them get a Major League club, the city and the state are not financially viable enough right now to cough up the cash Bud and his minions would want from the public for a stadium. When they can't afford things like schools, and fail to pass special bond measures to keep them open, municipal ballpark funding looks more ridiculous than it already is.
