Birding

The Orioles hold a fan fest this Saturday, reports Tim Nichols of the Cecil Whig. If you are a Baltimore fan, sounds like a great opportunity to meet players and coaches.

On another note, I'm impressed that there is still a newspaper called The Whig. They haven't had a party since the 1850's.

Similarly, I'm impressed the Orioles still have fans.

No disrespect to O's fans intended. I lived in MD for several years and always loved going to Oriole Park at Camden Yards for Boog's and Cal and Brady!

Note: The above is very very funny if you could hear me say it in my exaggerated Baltimorean accent hun.

Seriously though, the O's were a great team until Angelos must have read Steinbrenner's autobiography and forgot that he didn't have a lucrative TV deal. I'd love to see them knock the Red Sox out of the Number Two spot in the AL East.

Dare I say it, but the O's are finally on the right track and I like there chances over the next few years. Their Minor League system is slowly being turned around and at this point is miles ahead of those of the NY Yankees and Red Sox. If Angelos is willing to have a payroll of around 70-80 million I think the O's can compete if they keep working on the minor league system. There are a plethora of good arms a year or two away.
