Games of the Day

I don’t think it’s that good a game, but John Means takes on David Price in the money match of the day as Baltimore plays Boston. It’s not Price against Doug Fister, but I’ll take it.

The White Sox send Carlos Rodon against the Yankees and Masahiro Tanaka. Rodon has two very strong legs of the three-true outcomes, with 24 K and no home runs allowed in 16 innings. He has walked seven, however. Tanaka’s strikeout rate is down a bit this season, but he allowed just one home run in his first 18 1/3 innings. His weakness in the past was the long ball.

The Rays send Charlie Morton against the Blue Jays and Marcus Stroman. Morton continues the strikeout surge he started when joining the Astros, with 21 K in 16 IP. Stroman is suffering from support issues, as he is 0-2 despite a 2.41 ERA. The Blue Jays scored one run in each of his two starts.

Pittsburgh send Jameson Taillon against Washington ace Max Scherzer. Taillon holds batters to .200/.262/.367 slash line so far this season, but opponents are 4 for 10 with runners in scoring position. Scherzer is showing his usual power and control, with 28 K and just four walks in 19 innings.

Enjoy!
