BBWAA Managers of the Year

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America voted for Torey Lovullo as NL Manager of the Year. Lovullo received 18 of the 30 first place votes to win the award easily, as there was no clear second choice. Paul Molitor won the AL Manager of the Year Award. The vote there was very close, as Molitor received 18 of the first place votes, but Terry Francona received 11. AL voters saw either Molitor or Francona as the choice, with everyone else in the dust.

Note that in the IBWAA poll, which drew from a much larger sample, Francona won. Francona had the win streak (while battling health issues) and Molitor had the surprise performance. The IBWAA voters liked the former, the BBWAA voters liked the latter. It was tough in either contest to make a poor choice.
