Games of the Day

The two best games take place Thursday afternoon, starting with the rubber game of the series between the Dodgers and the Nationals. Julio Urias takes on Stephen Strasburg. The 19-year-old rookie Urias posted a high strikeout rate so far. His home runs and walks are a bit high, but with 44 K in 36 1/3 innings, the future is bright for Urias. Strasburg tries to go 14-0. Strasburg is 7-0 at home, but gives up the long ball in Washington. Eight of his 11 home runs allowed were hit there. In three July starts he allowed just two runs.

The Orioles and Yankees take the field in New York, the Yankees going for a sweep of the series. They already knocked Baltimore out of first place. Chris Tillman takes on CC Sabathia. Tillman is having an odd July. He walked ten and struck out ten in 21 innings, not a good rate for either statistic. He has not allowed a home run, however, and just 12 hits so his ERA is an excellent 1.29. Sabathia seemed to have the home run under control until this month. He allowed four home runs in his first 13 starts, three in his last three.

Enjoy!
