The Washington Nationals fired Matt Williams on Monday. On a related note, the seven decisions that doomed Williams.
I don’t think his decisions doomed him as much as his lack of communications skills. With a little luck going the other way, those decisions could have gone positively for the Nationals, and he would still be the skipper of the team. After all, Ned Yost seems to make a lot of bad decisions that work out. Winning covers a lot of flaws, and Nationals not winning as much as they were supposed to exposed those flaws in Williams. Too bad Torey Lovullo decided to stay with the Red Sox, he would have done well in Washington.
Wow, the whole coaching staff is gone.
Next up, Rizzo for the horrible decision to bring in Papelbon.
