Games of the Day

The Yankees and Blue Jays continue their series with Luis Severino taking on Marco Estrada. The two have nearly identical ERAs, Severino coming into the game with a 3.12 mark, Estrada 3.14. Severino pitched better on the road so far in his rookie season, 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA. Only one of his six home runs allowed came on the road. Estrada allowed six home runs to the Yankees in his 22 innings against New York this year.

The Brewers and Cubs offer a match-up of opposites as Tyler Cravy takes on Cy Young candidate Jake Arrieta. Cravy is imperfect as a rookie, 0-7 with a blown save. Despite a good strikeout rate, Cravy allowed 42 hits in 33 2/3 innings. The opposition is slugging .507 against him. Arrieta goes for his 20th win of the season. He allowed just 144 hits in 207 innings. Opponents are slugging just .288 against Jake.

The Angels send Hector Santiago against Lance McCullers as the Angels try to shave a game off Houston’s wild card lead. Santiago made three starts against the Astros this season, owning a 1.40 ERA in 19 1/3 innings. None of this three starts resulted in a decision, however. McCullers owns a 2.00 ERA against the Angels in 18 innings, and managed to win one of his three starts.

Enjoy!
