Solidifying a Cy and a Division.

Madison Bumgarner pitched another great game against the Giants, but this time Zack Greinke was in opposition. Bumgarner allowed two runs in seven innings of work, while Greinke allowed just on in 7 1/3 innings, the Dodgers winning the game 2-1. This moves Greinke back to a seven point lead over Jake Arrieta in Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points. More importantly for the team, the Dodgers lead the Giants by 5 1/2 games with about a month to go in the season. Los Angeles looks like a very good bet to make the playoffs.

You should start doin’ a Greinke watch. With a 1.59 ERA, it’s looking more & more like he’s got a shot at the lowest ERA seen since ’94 Maddux or ’85 Gooden. Might even end up lower than tham. I don’t think anybody’s lower since ’68 ended. Even in ERA+, he’s got a 235 right now and if that holds, then he’ll be the only pitcher since ’05 Clemens to do that — and this would be his 2nd time doing it.
