Arrieta Bids Again

Jake Arrieta just completed the seventh inning against the Dodgers, keeping his no-hitter intact. He walked one batter, and one reached on an error as the Cubs lead 2-0.

ESPN pointed out that this is the fourth time in two seasons that Arrieta completed six no-hit innings. In face, since the start of 2014, he averages the most out before the first hit of an pitcher with 30 starts, 5.35 outs before the first hit. Shelby Miller is second at 4.67, Jacob deGrom is third at 4.36, and Corey Kluber is fourth at 4.31.

At the other end of the scale, the Dodger’s starter this evening, Alex Wood, goes just 1.40 outs before he allows a hit.
