Games of the Day

The Royals and Rays continue their series with Kris Medlen facing Jake Odorizzi. Medlen has been a great, late addition to the Royals staff, striking out 20 batters in 20 1/3 innings combined starting and relieving. Odorizzi pitched much better than his 6-6 record. His season seems like a huge waste of a .275 BABIP allowed.

Garrett Richards tries to improve the Angels wild card chances as he faces the Indians and Corey Kluber. If you look at Richards career, 2014 looks like an outlier. At this point, we don’t know if he turned a corner that season and his injury set him back, or if that season was just a fluke. Kluber demonstrates who two seasons that are similar in many regards can produce very different ERAs. He was great with runners in scoring position last season, not nearly so good this year.

The slugfest of the day is set to take place in Milwaukee where Keyvius Sampson faces Matt Garza. If Keyvius was pronounced differently, and he was a low-speed control pitcher, Devious would be perfect nickname.

Future blog post titles for Keyvius Sampson:

Locke and Keyvius (for when he faces Jeff Locke).
Holding the Keyvius
Keyvius Play
Sampson and Deshields
Keyviuses to the Game
Keyviusstone Combination
Changing Keyvius
Off Keyvius
Low Keyvius

Enjoy!
