The Taijuan Around

Taijuan Walker pitched another impressive game Wednesday afternoon, holding the Padres to one hit and no runs in six innings of work, walking none and striking out seven. He started the season poorly, going 1-5 in his first nine games with a 7.33 ERA, walking 23 in 43 innings, but striking out 39. He also allowed eight home runs. Since then, in seven starts, he walked three in 48 1/3 innings with 51 strikeouts. He has allowed five home runs, but only nine runs for a 1.68 ERA. Somehow, Walker found command of the strike zone and dominated hitters.

The Mariners dominated the Padres 7-0.
