The Phillies announced today that Andy MacPhail joined the front office, to take over for Pat Gillick as president at the end of the season. The conventional wisdom is that he’ll spend his time between now and then finding a new general manager.

I will note that Pat Gillick was not a fan of Moneyball. Pat was able to do the same thing without the computers, but for some reason didn’t recognize it as such.
