Games of the Day

Masahiro Tanaka returns to the Yankees rotation to take on the Mariners and Taijuan Walker. Tanaka showed great control in his first four starts, striking out 24 and walking seven in 22 1/3 innings. Walker allowed eight home runs this season, six coming with runners on base.

Sonny Gray takes his 1.82 to Detroit as the Athletics face Anibal Sanchez. Gray’s ERA jumps to 2.27 on the road. He strikes out batters at a higher rate away, but walks more as well. Sanchez is off to a rough start, allowing 12 home runs in 67 1/3 innings. Last season, he gave up just four dingers in 126 innings.

Veterans Jon Lester and Dan Haren battle as the Cubs finish their series with the Marlins. Lester made just three of his ten starts on the road, but owns a 2.70 ERA away from Wrigley. Haren is posting his best ERA since 2011 at 3.03. There might be some luck involved there, as his FIP and xFIP are higher than last season.

All the western games look pretty good, the best might be the Dodgers at the Rockies with Mike Bolsinger taking on Chad Bettis. Bolsinger pitched six shutout innings in his first start against the Rockies. Bettis walked six and struck out 22 in 27 1/3 innings.
