Games of the Day

The Royals battle the Cubs with Edison Volquez facing Jake Arrieta. Volquez looks like he should be worse than his 2.77 ERA. His .195 BA allowed seems out of line with his strikeout rate, and he walks a ton of batters. Arrieta owns outstanding three-true outcome numbers.

Nate Karns leads the Rays against the Orioles and Miguel Gonzalez. The teams are battling for second place in the AL East. Karns owns a 1.54 ERA on the road, but only made two of his nine starts away from Tampa Bay. Gonzalez owns a 2.93 ERA at home, where he’s only walked seven of his 22 batters.

Dan Haren tries to get the Marlins back to winning ways as he faces the Mets and Matt Harvey. Haren allowed eight home runs so far, but six have been solo shots. Harvey tries to right himself after giving up seven runs to Pittsburgh. The Mets are hoping a six-man rotation keeps him healthy.

First place teams meet under the arch as Mike Bolsinger leads the Dodgers against John Lackey and the Cardinals. Bolsinger allowed one home run in 25 1/3 innings after giving up seven dingers in 52 1/3 innings in 2014. Lackey is on a pace to allow about 12 home runs this season after giving up 24 in 2014.
