Games of the Day

The Mets and Pirates offer the best match-up of the day as Matt Harvey faces A.J. Burnett. Harvey continues to pitch impressively after recovering from Tommy John surgery. His strikeouts remain high, and his control is even better with just eight walks in 54 2/3 innings. Harvey owns an excellent 1.98 ERA, but Burnett is even better at 1.38. He keeps the ball in the park, with just two home runs allowed in 52 innings. Long balls have often been Burnett’s weakness.

The battle of Ohio offers a good dual as the Reds send Anthony DeSclafani against Corey Kluber. DeSclafani owns an odd home/road split. His home ERA stands at 5.40, having allowed three home run in 20 innings in Cincinnati. His road ERA is 2.52. He’s walked 12 in 25 innings, but allowed just 15 hits and one home run away from home. Kluber is on a two game streak in which he allowed six hits and one walk in 17 innings while striking out 30.
