Roenicke Fired

Buster Olney just reported during the Sunday Night Baseball game that the Brewers fired Ron Roenicke. The Brewers are 7-18, a .280 winning percentage, the worst record in the majors. They fired him on an uptick, as the Brewers won their last two games.

The Brewers are bad because the hitting is awful and the pitching is awful. They’ve been outscored 120-77 in 24 games. That’s a deficit of nearly two runs per game. The people who should be their stars have not hit. Ryan Braun, Carlos Gomes, Jonathan Lucroy (also hurt), and Aramis Ramirez all have OBPs well under .300. The Brewers need someone to jump start those players, I guess. On the pitching side, Matt Garza and Kyle Lohse are not performing.

I’d like to know if Roenicke did something to alienate the veterans. Otherwise, this strikes me as a move that was made because something had to be done, and this was something.
