Deja Vu All Over Again

For the third day in a row, the Pirates and Cardinals finish nine innings tied at one. The Cardinals did not win 2-1 this time, however. Pedro Alvarez homered in the top of the 12th inning to give Pittsburgh the 2-1 lead. The Cardinals scored on an infield single in the bottom of the 12th, then Kolten Wong homered in the bottom of the 14th, and the Cardinals win their third one-run, extra inning game in a row, taking the contest 3-2.

Neither team has been extreme in close games. The Cardinals are now 4-3 in one-run games, the Pirates 4-7. The Cardinals are great in extra frames, however, with a 4-1 record, while the Pirates lost all four games they took past the ninth.
