The Astros held off a charge by the Mariners as Houston extends their winning streak to 10 games by a score of 7-6. Starter Roberto Hernandez allowed the first three batters of the seventh to reach, and Seattle scored four runs in that inning. The bullpen bent, but did not break as they did not allow a hit the rest of the way, and the three relievers combined for one walk and five strikeouts.

That’s pretty much their average for the season. in 80 1/3 relief innings, Astros pitchers struck out 86 while walking just 17. With the high strikeout rate, they only allowed 49 hits, so it has been tough to score on this team late.

Seattle, one of the teams expected to compete for the AL West title, now sits eight games out of first place.
