The Pirates came into their series against the Cardinals hitting very well with runners in scoring position. At the end of April, the Pirates owned a .305/.361/.461 slash line in that situation. Over the last two days, both games won by the Cardinals 2-1 in extra innings, the Pirates have gone 2 for 18 with runners in scoring position. The left six on base Friday as they went 1 for 5 with RISP, and 18 on Saturday as they went 1 for 13 with RISP. Sometimes luck runs into good pitching.
