Joe Mauer hit for little power coming into Sunday’s game. His .370 OBP was excellent, but his .306 slugging percentage was awful. He upped both today with a 3 for 5 performance, hitting a double and a game winning triple to lead the Twins to a 4-2 victory over Seattle in eleven innings. Mauer brings his slash line up to .299/.392/.373. That’s still not good power for a first baseman.
Mauer’s triple was the 23rd of his career, which is pretty good for a catcher.
