Bryce Harper was just called out on an appeal play at first base. On a long fly ball to center, Harper had reached second when the ball was caught. He turned around and headed back to first, but in turning, the umpires saw him step off the bag on the third base side. He didn’t touch the bag again. It really was a technicality, he never really headed toward third. I think it was a good call, however.
The Nationals lead the Cardinals 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
