My Early Cy Race

Tigers and ex-Tigers pitchers dominate the early leaders in Tom Tango Cy Young points. Tom introduced me to his Cy Young predictor last season, and you can follow the race here. Through April 20th, Shane Greene leads the majors with 14.6 tracker points, thanks to three wins. His teammate David Price is right on his tail with 13.2 points, thanks to a high number of strikeouts. In the NL, Max Scherzer, current Nationals pitcher and former Tigers star leads the way with 12.3 points, with Anthony DeSclafani not far behind after his brilliant start for the Reds last night.

    David:

The “1st place” for Bill’s system, this early in the season, seems too…. strong a weight. It overwhelms so much.

Maybe you can have it more gradual. Maybe apply a factor like (Team Games + 38) / 200 or something like that. So, after 22 games, instead of the current weight of “12”, it would be a weight of “3.6”.

Tangotiger » Could be. I also have a feeling we really shouldn’t look at this until May. Give the hot starters a little chance to regress and the races to take better shape.

This also may be a reason your scoring system is superior.
