Games of the Day

Carlos Carrasco and Hector Noesi meet in Chicago as the Indians play the White Sox. Carrasco blew away batters in his first two starts, recording ten strikeouts with just on walk in 6 1/3 innings. He would have pitched more except for a line drive hitting his face on April 14th. Noesi walked six and struck out six in his first 4 2/3 innings. For his career he showed much better control than that.

Brandon Morrow and the Padres continue their series with the Rockies against Tyler Matzek. Morrow makes his first road start of the year, going from a great park for pitchers to a very tough one. He allowed just 11 hits in his first 14 innings. Only one of Matzek’s nine hits allowed went for extra bases so far.

The Athletics send Drew Pomeranz against the Angels and Hector Santiago. Pomeranz faced 11 lefties so far and has not allowed any of them to reach base. For his career, his OBP allowed is nearly 100 points lower against LHB than against RHB. All four of Santiago’s extra-base hits allowed have come with the bases empty.

Finally, the Dodgers and Brett Anderson face Tim Lincecum and the Giants. Anderson, a lefty, has allowed hits to LHB but power to RHB so far in 2015. Lincecum pitched well in his two starts so far, trying to return to his former All-Star status. So far, so good.

Enjoy!
