Will Middlebrooks and Wil Myers spoiled the debut of Kris Bryant. Middlebrooks brought the Padres back from an early 2-0 Cubs lead with a two-run homer in the fourth, while Myers overcame a 4-2 deficit with a three-run homer in the seventh to give San Diego a 5-4 win. Bryant was a disappointment, going 0 for 4 with three strikeouts. Between the injury to Olt and the poor start for Bryant, it’s going to be tough to argue that the Cubs front office made the wrong decision.
Myers now owns a .333/.348/.511 slash line. So far, he’s looking like a nice pickup for the Padres.
“Forget it, Jake. It’s Wrigleyville.”
