An idiot took a punch at former major league player Curt Ford:

Prosecutors charged Street with one count of assault motivated by discrimination in the third degree, a class D felony. His criminal history includes guilty pleas for possession of marijuana and assault.

A police report said the man told Ford to, “Go back to Ferguson you (racial slur).” The document did not say what racial slur was used.

Ford would not go into specifics about the incident during an interview with the Post-Dispatch Thursday. He said he had difficulty speaking clearly because his face was swollen.

The account says the man was huge, and sucker punched Ford. Ford was small for a ballplayer, five foot ten and 150 pounds, according to Baseball Reference. I have to believe, however, if Ford had seen it coming he would have creamed the guy. In general, it’s not a good idea to take on a professional athlete in a fight. I hope they throw the book at the assailant.
