Team Offense, Chicago White Sox

The 2015 series on team offense continues with the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox finished thirteenth in the majors and eighth in the the American League in 2014 with 4.07 runs scored per game. That was also the major league average for teams.

I could not find updated lineups at CBSSports.com, so I am going to use a combination of RotoChamp and USA Today. In this case, I’m going with the USA Today lineup as Carlos Sanchez is at the top of depth chart for second basemen. That Robin Ventura lineup is plugged into the Lineup Analysis Tool (LAT) using Musings Marcels as the batter projections. That information produces the following results:

Best lineup: 4.80 runs per game
Probable lineup: 4.75
Worst lineup: 4.50
Regressed lineup: 4.37

Ventura nails the lineup. The LAT agrees with Adam Eaton and Melky Cabrera batting one two. It likes Jose Abreu and Adam LaRoche back-to-back, although in the four-five slots rather than the three-four slots. (The way the LAT works, the number three hitter does not to be that good.) It likes Carlos Sanchez as the secondary lead-off man batting ninth. Great job by Ventura, and the White Sox look poised to improve a great deal in 2015.
