There are exhibition games scheduled for today!
Do people still use the term “exhibition” to refer to non-championship games? I know the NFL gets upset if you call their pre-season games exhibitions. Baseball used the term when I was young, but I don’t hear it any more. I guess it’s bad for marketing.
Huh. What do we call them now? “Games for funsies”?
Woo hoo! Spring training games! And it’s supposed to hit 40 here in Toledo today (though later this week it’ll go back to subzero.) Meanwhile I need to cut out new paths in the snow for the hounds.
rbj » Yes, our dog feels a bit trapped, too. Usually she ventures out onto the top of the snow by now, but it’s just too high for her to climb out of the trench.
I wonder how much profit is in ST. Players dont get paid, just a meal allowance. Coaches get paid year round so their cost is prorated. More games are televised, and mlb.tv which is shared by 30 teams covers a ton of games. A number of teams have their own stadiums.
This is probably why ST is longer than it needs to be. They might want to shorten the regular season so they can extend ST
