Hamilton in Trouble?

Josh Hamilton got called to the principal’s office:

Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton is meeting with Major League Baseball officials Wednesday about a disciplinary issue, and the team is bracing for possible penalties.

General Manager Jerry Dipoto confirmed that Hamilton was in New York, but he declined to say what prompted league officials to summon the outfielder.

“I can say that Josh is going to meet with league officials in New York,” Dipoto said. “At this point I have no other information to offer.” The Los Angeles Times learned the meeting involved a disciplinary issue through a person with knowledge of the situation.

If Hamilton does face discipline, it might actually help the Angels as they would save some money. Hamilton fell off the wagon twice that we know of. We’ll see what happens now.

Update: From Ken Rosenthal:

FOX Sports MLB insider Ken Rosenthal asked a baseball executive whether Hamilton’s discipline was for PEDs. The exec replied, “Worse,” then declined to elaborate.

I thought there was nothing worse than PEDs!

It is easy to jump to the conclusion that Hamilton is using drugs again, but what if this is some kind of crime or assault? We saw what happened in the NFL last season. Maybe baseball wants to get in front of something like that and avoid the scandal of football.

Worse than PEDs? Did he befriend A-Rod?

Addiction is a process, nut a cure. Steve Howe was never able to successfully beat it.

I think there was something going on during his last days in Texas. All the excuses about him having too much caffeine and not being able to focus his eyes because of it seemed dubious at best.
