Changes, Toronto Blue Jays

With major league teams going through trading frenzies this off-season, Baseball Musings takes a look at the players added by each team this off-season, continuing with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays brought in the following players from other organizations:

The Blue Jays made two big moves to improve the offense, bringing in potential MVP Josh Donaldson to play third base and a catcher who can get on base in Russell Martin. Martin also gives the Blue Jays a great defender behind the plate, which might be even more important. They add some infield and outfield depth in Justin Smoak and Michael Saunders as well.

The pitchers they picked up all seem to be older, but with little MLB experience. Preston Guilmet is a good example, a pitcher with great minor league strikeout and walk numbers who will play the 2015 season as a 27 year old, at peak. I don’t think many of them will be on the team come opening day, but they are perfect replacements for the many pitching injuries that tend to crop up during the season.
